To Access the Metadata Editor

There are several ways of accessing the Metadata editor in Anypoint Studio

To Access the Metadata Editor (Metadata Tab)

  1. Select a component in your canvas to display its Mule Properties view.

  2. Select the Metadata tab on the component’s Mule Properties view.

  3. Click the Add Metadata button to start defining the metadata of your payload, attributes, and variables.

  4. Select the Mule event component to which you want to define metadata.

  5. Click the Edit icon access metadata editor task 93b19 to open the Metadata Editor.

Note that when editing an inbound endpoint metadata, you can only define outbound metadata.

To Access the Metadata Editor (Transform Message Component)

  1. Select a Transform Component in your canvas to display its Mule Properties view.

  2. Click the Define Metadata link in either the input or output columns of the component, depending on the metadata you want to define.
    If the previous component in your flow is already defining output metadata, the input section of the Transform Component already recognizes it. You can right click the payload field and select Set Metadata.

When accesing the Metadata Editor from the Transform Message component, you get the option to wrap elements in a collection.
This sets the metadata as a list, where each element on the list is an instance of the structure you defined. So for example if you set your metadata as an XML structure, clicking this checkbox will make your metadata a list that contains N instances of that XML structure.

To Access the Metadata Editor (Package Explorer View)

  1. Right click on your project in the package explorer view.

  2. Select Mule and then Manage Metadata Types.
