Security and Compliance in MuleSoft Government Cloud Plus
MuleSoft Anypoint Platform on Salesforce Government Cloud Plus (MuleSoft Government Cloud Plus) meets FedRAMP Certification Class D (High) (formerly FedRAMP (High)) and Department of Defense Impact Level 4 (IL4) security and compliance standards for U.S. federal and defense agency integration workloads. It runs on a dedicated AWS GovCloud (US-East) hardware partition and inherits compliance certifications from Salesforce Government Cloud Plus.
Compliance Authorizations
MuleSoft Government Cloud Plus inherits these authorizations from Salesforce Government Cloud Plus:
-
FedRAMP Certification Class D (High)
-
Department of Defense Impact Level 4
Security Protocols
FedRAMP Certification Class D (High) and Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 4 (IL4) authorizations follow these standards:
-
Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-3
Enforces cryptographic modules for data at rest and in transit.
-
Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and 1.3
MuleSoft Anypoint Platform inherits the Government Cloud Plus cipher configuration.
-
NIST 800-53
Provides security and privacy controls for the authorization.
-
Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks and Department of Defense Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
Harden baselines for the environment.
Secure Hosting Platform
MuleSoft Government Cloud Plus operates in AWS GovCloud (US-East) within the Government Cloud Plus authorization boundary. Your CloudHub 2.0 workloads run in a dedicated, isolated network.
Under shared controls, you are responsible for these areas:
-
Access control through your identity provider using SAML or OpenID Connect, including multi-factor authentication
-
Account, role, and privileged assignment administration in Access Management, including revoking unnecessary privileged access
-
Keystore, truststore, certificate, and secret lifecycle management and rotation in Secrets Manager
-
Platform audit log export to support retention past the default 365-day limit
-
Application alert selection and destination configuration
MuleSoft manages connections among platform services, including CloudHub 2.0 on MuleSoft Government Cloud Plus. Runtime Fabric and hybrid deployment models run on customer-managed infrastructure.
FIPS 140-3 Compliance
Platform cryptography inherits the FIPS 140-3 implementation authorized for Salesforce Government Cloud Plus. You manage the keystores, truststores, certificates, and secrets that your applications use in Secrets Manager.
MuleSoft verifies connectors published to Anypoint Exchange on Government Cloud Plus for FIPS 140-3 compliance before publication with the FIPS-140-3-verified tag. This verification applies to connector artifacts used on CloudHub 2.0.
FIPS 140-3 Supported Cipher Suites
Mule runtime traffic on CloudHub 2.0 supports these cipher suites:
-
TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
-
TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384
-
TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
-
TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
Agency systems and your API listeners use these cipher suites to negotiate TLS with CloudHub 2.0 applications.
Authentication and Access Control
Federate authentication to your identity provider by using SAML or OpenID Connect.
Under shared controls, you’re responsible for these tasks:
-
Multi-factor authentication enforcement for privileged and non-privileged accounts in your identity provider
-
PIV or CAC authentication implementation (when required by agency policy) federated to Anypoint Platform
-
Account, role, and privileged assignment management in Access Management, including revocation of unnecessary privileged access
-
Identifier and authenticator management in your identity provider
MuleSoft restricts privileged functions to privileged users.
Network Segmentation
Your CloudHub 2.0 workloads run on a dedicated network that’s isolated from other organizations. Connectivity between CloudHub 2.0 and agency systems is private and stays on the agency network.
You manage this connection by using a site-to-site VPN or Transit Gateway, including firewall rules and inbound TLS certificates.
